Chemical In The Eye
Chemical splashes into the eye could cause serious complications, even leading to blindness.
Symptoms
- Irritation or burning
- Watering of the eye
Action
- Immediately flush the eye with clean water for 20 minutes or more. Either under a shower with the stream of water falling on the forehead and then on to the affected eye, or tilt the head sideways with the affected eye below the other eye and under a gently running faucet.
- Remove any contact lenses, if they do not come off during flushing
- After flushing, cover with clean cotton cloth and tie a bandage over both eyes
- Wash your hands with water to remove any chemical
